Biographical note Dr. Wil Hout has written many journal articles on issues of International Political Economy; he is the author of Captalism and the Third World, co-editor of Regionalism across the North-South Divide and co-editor of three Dutch-language volumes on issues of International Relations and Political Science.
Over the past decade, the governance discourse has come to dominate the discussion on development assistance. Previous concerns, focussing on the lack of resources needed for development, such as capital or knowledge or on the unfavourable international structure have partly or wholly given way to considerations related to the purported quality of governance and policies. Recently, several authors have questioned the suitability of Good Governance as an ex ante criterion for development assistance policies. In his lecture Dr Hout will address the good governance criterion as applied in Dutch Development Assistance Policy. | | |
