The FHR Lim A PO Institute of Social Studies (FHR) was founded in 200 as an initiative to advocate life long learning. It engages in training and education, research and consultancy, as well as in the debating of topical societal and other issues in a setting of government, private sector and civil society organizations. It conducts postgraduate courses in professional skills, governance and management and organizes executive seminars, workshops and conferences. 

The Institute of Social Studies (ISS) was founded in 1952 as a joint initiative of the Dutch universities and is officially registered as an Institute of international higher education under the Dutch Law and Higher Education. Its degrees are recognized by Dutch Law and Internationally. With its multicultural student population and staff, ISS provides high-quality social science policy-oriented education to mid career professionals, mostly from developing countries.
